VH-CJZ Gardan GY-80
Horizon 180
(c/n 215)
This Horizon came in with VH-EOL in 1968. Another Horizon (VH-KJC)
had been registered
to
Kingsford Smith Aviation earlier in May 1967. So far as I know
these were the only three on
the Australian
civil register. VH-CJZ was ferried from France under the
rego F-OCLI. The
two
shots on this page are by Geoff Goodall. By the time the one
above was taken at Jandakot in
June of 1970,
the aircraft was owned by Southern Cross Aviation. The image
below shows it in
1968 as F-OCLI just after it
arrived. VH-CJZ was damaged 115 miles SE of
Carnarvon, WA
on 15 June 1971. It was
salvaged and is now part of the RAAFA Aviation Heritage Museum of
WA at Bull Creek
collection and named "Sugar Bird
Lady".
