VH-APT
de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth (c/n
180)
Tiger
Moths were rare visitors to Essendon. After all, in the 1950s it was the International
Airport for Melbourne and puddle jumpers were not
exactly encouraged. However, VH-APT
snuck in one day, repleat
with light blue and white checkerboard tail and parked next to DCA's
hangar (almost under the wing of DC-3 VH-CAN).
The Tiger underwent a restoration in 1962
and became VH-ALP.
At
some time either in the late 1990s or early 2000s it underwent
another restoration and is currently flying as VH-VCR.
