Saro A.10 Fighter L.2 (K1949)

This Saunders-Roe experiment at producing a
fighter in 1928 was not pursued. The aircraft
originally
flew as "L.2" and I suspect that it is wearing that identity in the
shot above. It was
given the RAF serial L1949 but the service had no interest in it -
probably because Saro was
not a
"known" name in the fighter design world, rather than any true
deficiency of the machine
itself. Then,
as now, brand name and other political issues seem to overwhelm most
other
decisions
to purchase a product, common sense notwithstanding.
