Republic
AT-12 Guardsman
This is one of the 50 Seversky 2PA-204s which
were destined for Sweden, but
blocked due to
the
political situation in Europe in the early 1940s. Unfortunately
this Republic photo shows the
aircraft devoid of any serial number or squadron identity.
Anyway, at about this time, Seversky
himself
was voted off the Board of his own company, and the corporate name
changed to Republic
Aviation.
Some AT-12s were armed with .30 machine guns. Somewhat
incredibly, one still exists
and can be
viewed at the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino, California.
