Gloster Gambet Japanese

In 1926 the Goucestershire Aircraft Co.
changed its name to be Gloster Aircraft Co. Ltd. In
that
same year it responded to a request from Nakajima in Japan to submit to
a specification
issued by
the Japanese Navy for a shipboard fighter. Designed by H.P.
Folland, the Gambet
was
a fairly conventional aircraft based on the RAF's Grebe/Gamecock
layout. In the event
the
design won the award and some 150 were produced in Japan under licence
as the Naka-
jima
