                                  The national Romanian airline TAROM (Compania Națională de Transporturi Aeriene Române)
                                  operated some 20 IL-14s of various marques at one time or another. Half of them, like YR-ILO,
                                  seen in this nice shot by Leo Larsen at Copenhagen in 1962, were built by VEB Flugzeuwerke   
                                  at Dresden, East Germany  in the mid 1950s.      I flew in a Russian built IL-14 into Moscow in
                                 1961 and all I can say is that it was not a very nice experience at all!         Several of TAROM's
                                  machines had accidents, including this one, which crashed short of the runway at Sibiu in the
                                  Transylvanian mountains in central Romania  some 200 km NE of Bucharest on 1 March 1976.
