SX-DAK de Havilland D.H.106 Comet 4B
(c/n 6437)
To
compete with British Airways on the lucrative Athens - London route,
Olympic ordered a fleet
of four Comets in 1960. The
airline had been incorporated in 1957 after shipping magnate Aristotle
Onassis purchased the state controlled
airline T.A.E. and renamed it Olympic. Initial services were
flown with chartered
DC-6Bs. SX-DAK was sold in 1969 to BEA reverting to its
assigned UK
registration
when built, of G-APYC. After flying with Channel Airways
and Dan Air it was broken
up at RAF Kemble in 1979.
