OO-TIB Avions Fairey
(Tipsy)
Belfair
(c/n 532)
Designed by Ernest Oscar Tips, the Belfair was an enclosed cabin
variation of the popular
Tipsy B.. Unfortunately the price of
this machine in the immediate post war era, where many
ex-military aircraft
were available, was unsustainable, and only three were built in Belgium.
Three more
airframes were sold to D. Heaton and completed in the
U.K. OO-TIB was
sold to New Zealand in December 1954 as ZK-BGZ. Sadly, it
crashed near Rotorua on
8 December 1956.
