OK-WAA Douglas
DC-3
(c/n 19343)
This shot from CSA shows the first aircraft acquired (allotted) to the
Czech national carrier
after WW II. An ex C-47A-70-DL (42-100880) it is seen at the old
terminal at Prague's
Ruzyne Airport in 1946. Airline titling not yet applied.
The aircraft on the right umber the
port wing is a Siebal 204, several of which were produced in
Czechoslovakia at around
that time. In 1948 when the communist government took over,
CSA's flights to Western
Europe were banned, and the fleet was replaced by Russian types, LI-2,
IL-12 et al.
Re-registered OK-WAT in 1948, this DC-3 was later sold to the French
Air Force as
100880 with the call-sign F-RHRC. In 1971 it went to the Yugoslav
Air Force with
serial no. 71273. OK-WAA today is an Airbus A310.,
