LN-PSG de
Havilland D.H.114 Heron 1B
(c/n 14002)
An oft-published photograph of Braathens SAFE first Heron
- one of half a dozen operated by
the airline in the 1950s
for internal Norway flights. In 1954 Braathens were denied an
extension
of their permit to fly to
the Far East (SAS were very protective of their routes) and the airline
turned to building an
internal network. The Herons were replaced in the late 1950s with
Fokker
Friendships. This one
returned to the U.K. as G-AOZM for Silver City Airways.
