G-EBYK  de Havilland D.H.60G Gipsy Moth            (c/n  825)

I have taken some "webmaster's rights" in my image manipulation with this de Havilland photo-
graph.  The aircraft was actually at the top of a loop and I reproduce below the unadulterated
print.  I am displaying it "right way up" above to show the distinctive lines of this typical Gipsy
Moth.  Note D.H. star logo on the forward fuselage.  This aircraft was lost in a "shocking air
tragedy" to quote the Reading Mercury on 18 July 1931 whilst on a cross country trip from
Heston to Upavon.  The aircraft suffered an engine faiklure and crashed at Arborfield, Berk-
shire, resulting in the death of Mr. Philip Noble and Mrs. Violet Baring.   Both were qualified
pilots and it was never revealed who was actually flying the machine at the time.
