G-EBND Avro 566
Avenger
(c/n 5109)
This photo came from the archives of the Australian Civil Aviation
Historical Society via
Phil Vabre,
although why they had the image isn't clear, since the aircraft never
went, or
was
destined, to go to Oz. The Avenger was a private venture
machine designed by
Roy Chadwick. In the event it was never considered by the Air
Ministry possibly
because of its Napier Lion engine. It was eventually revamped as
the Avro 567
Avenger II, although I suspect this shot shows it in its original
form. G-EBND was
withdrawn from
use in 1929. and used as an instructional airframe.
