G-EBHC Avro 504N
(c/n R3/LY/10331)
The Avro 504N was the successor to the highly successful
504K, and differed from that aircraft
mainly in the
elimination of the central landing skid under the main wheels.
Power plant of the
504N
was the 160 h.p. Armstrong Siddeley Lynx IV, giving rise to the
unofficial name of this
machine as the Lynx Trainer. 504Ns
were widely used by the air forces of the world as training
aircraft.
Several, such as the one above, made their way onto the UK civil
register. In fact, at the
outbreak of WW
II, seven were impressed back into RAF service.
