G-ALFR Airspeed
AS.57 Ambassador 2
(c/n 5210)
The AS.57 was designed to compete for the
Brabazon Committee's requirement IIA for an airliner
suitable for European routes. G-ALFR was the pre-production
machine used to obtain the C of A
and
also used by BEA for route proving. It was withdrawn
from use in 1967 after having been
operated by Dan-Air for a number of years.
