G-ALBO  Bristol 175 Britannia 101                        (c/n  12873)

                                    

                                          This was the prototype Britannia.  Its first flight was on 16 August 1952.   It was never used by
                                          BOAC on scheduled passenger revenue flights per se, although may have done some proving
                                          flights in readiness for the production series 102s.   It is seen below on the line at Filton in com-
                                          pany with the first three production models, G-ANBA/B/C.  BOAC operated 15 series 102s
                                          and 18 of the stretched series 300 Britannias.  G-ALBO was scrapped at RAF St. Athan in 1968.
