G-ALBO Bristol 175 Britannia 101
(c/n 12873)
This was the
prototype Britannia. Its first flight was on 16 August 1952.
It was never used by
BOAC on
scheduled passenger revenue flights per se, although may have done some
proving
flights in readiness for the production
series 102s. It is seen below on the line at Filton in com-
pany with the first three production
models, G-ANBA/B/C. BOAC operated 15 series 102s
and 18 of the stretched series 300
Britannias. G-ALBO was scrapped at RAF St. Athan in 1968.
