F-BGOC Douglas DC-6B
(c/n 43834)
TAI was founded in 1946 and its first
flights were to North Africa using A.A.C.1s (Junkers Ju 52/3ms
built
under license). It was later granted overseas routes from France
to Saigon, Tananarive, Abidjan
and
Dakar by the French Government (to the [somewhat] chagrin of Air
France). Early ex-KLM DC-4
equipment was
replaced in 1953 with a small fleet of three DC-6Bs. The airline
was merged with Union
de
Transports Aeriens (UTA) in 1964, and F-BGOC passed to the assets of
that company. It was with-
drawn
from use and broken up in 1970..
