CH-280 Comte
A.C.8
(c/n 30)
This shot came from a post card I acquired from an antique shop in
Basel many years ago.
Alfred Comte was a Swiss aircraft manufacturer in the 1923 to 1935
era. It built about 40
aircraft
in all, (plus eight Fokker D.VIIIs under license). The most numerous of
these were
the A.C.4 "Gentleman" and the A.C.8. This example was operated by
Aviatek Beider
Basel . I am not sure if this is the same company which later
produced flight simulators,
but possibly. First registered in June of 1930, it became
HB-ABU when the Swiss civil
aircraft registrations were changed. (See shot below). This
ancient design languished
until
after WW II and was not not stricken off the register until May of
1956.
