YV-AZK Douglas
DC-3
(c/n 19121)
In 1944 TACA founder Lowell
Yerex formed Linea Aerea TACA de Venezuela with backing
from Venezuelan investors who held 55% of the shares.
Originally formed to provide local flights,
the airline expended to fly from
Caracas to Bogota. In 1952 the airline was sold to LAV, and
most of
the fleet of twenty DC-3s were passed to the new airline.
The poor shot above is the
only TACA de Venezuela DC-3
image I have been able to glean. It came from the
Trans-
port Museum
of Venezuela.
