XH-TED Lockheed 14-H
(c/n
1403)
The original TACA line was formed in Honduras
in 1932. It operated a motley of different types
in the 1930s including
Bellanca Pacemakers and Ford Trimotors. In 1940 it updated its
equipment
with the acquisition of five Lockheed 14s. XH-TED was formerly
NC17384 with Northwest Air-
lines and is seen here at Tegucigalpa in the 1940s.
Although never a huge commercial success, the
Lockheed
14 was an important type insofar as it led to the design of the Hudson
bomber of WW II
fame.
