CX-ABA   Junkers Ju 53/3m                                         (c/n  5877)

                                

                                     Compañía Aeronáutica Uruguaya SA (CAUSA) was founded in December 1936.  It provided
                                     service on the lucrative Montevideo to Buenos Aires  route, its first scheduled passenger run
                                     being on 12 March 1938.  Two Junkers Ju 52/3m floatplanes were used.        CX-ABA was
                                     named 'El Uruguayo' and the second, CX-ABB (q.v.) 'El Argentino'.   CX-ABA has been
                                     restored and is in the Uruguayan Museo Aeronautico in Montevideo    The two images here
                                     are via said museum.   After WW II it upgraded its equipment to a modest fleet of Short
                                     Sunderlands and Sandringhams.  The airline folded in 1967.
