YK-ADA Douglas

YK-ADA was the last
registration to be carried by this DC-4 which had had a myriad of prior
identities (see list
below). Except for its stint with FAMA it had served all of its
civilian life (and
military too, for that
matter) as a freighter, as seen in the double rear doors in the shot
above, via
John
Havers, taken at Heathrow in 1962. YK-ADA was damaged beyond
repair when it overran
the
runway on landing at Damascus .on 2 October 1964. It was on
display (at least into the new
millennium) at the
Magic World Amusement Park in Aleppo, Syria, but whether it is still
there or
not, I cannot confirm.
