XY-ACM  Douglas DC-3                                        (c/n 15574/26979)

This ex RAF Dakota IV (KK201) was one of those C-47s which had a different body
number than the original laid down identity.     The reason for this escapes my memory
although I am sure it was logical at the time.. Anyway, the aircraft was demobbed before
the end of the war in January 1945 and went to BOAC as G-AGNF.  In March 1946
it was seconded to BEA, and sold off by them in March 1950 to UBA.   I suspect that
the above photo, from the Bill Hill collection was taken at Field Aircraft Services when
the DC-3 was being overhauled for its new Burmese customer.  On 16 August 1972
XY-ACB  crashed into the sea just after take-off  some 5 km south of Thandwe
Airport.  Sadly, 27 of the 28 souls on board perished.
