VT-CML   Douglas DC-3                                           (c/n  19868)

VT-CML was civilianized in 1946 to Bharat Airways.     With the establishment of Indian Air-
lines, it was absorbed by that company on 1 August 1953.  It then operated for 15 more years
before being  written off when it swung off the runway during a take off from Pune Lohegaon
Airport on 5 April 1968, (the year the city's name was changed from Poona).   Evidently the
wind had changed resulting in the aircraft attempting a down wind take off.   All 22 occupants
                                   escaped unharmed.
