VR-HDI Douglas DC-3
(c/n 19904)
Cathay Pacific Airways was
conceived immediately after WW II by several American and Australian
entrepreneurs ostensibly
to provide an air service between the colony of Hong Kong and Australia.
An initial DC-3 (VR-HDB
was acquired and this was soon augmented by several more (10 in all) of
which
VR-HDI above was one. This C-47A-DL had previously been operated
by
Philippine Airlines
as
PI-C24. It was sold in 1951 to Queensland Airlines as VH-AAU,
and then to Far East Air Trans-
port in
Taiwan as B-247 in
1967.
