VQ-PAR  D.H.89a Dragon Rapide                            (c/n  6806)

                                   

                                  An ex-RAF Dominie (NR718), this D.H.89a went to Palestine in 1946 (before the establishment
                                  of the State of Israel).  It was operated by Aviron, the training company which took over the old
                                  Palestine Airways.   Enlargement of the nose of the machine is seen below.           Services were
                                  operated within Palestine and to Beirut.   In the photo at the foot of the page it is seen as Haifa
                                  in 1946 along with the RWD-13 VQ-PAM.  These images are courtesy of the Kluger Zoltan
                                  collection   VQ-PAR was impressed into the fledgling Israeli Air Force in 1948, and then was
                                  released onto the Israeli civil register as 4X-ACU.             It was damaged beyond repair in   
                                  an Egyptian air attack on May 15, 1948.
