VQ-FAM de Havilland D.H.89A Dragon Rapide
(c/n 6471)
VQ-FAM was the second of three Rapides flown by Fiji
Airways in the 1950s. The above shot
was taken by the late
Fred Lindsley who was Chief Engineer for the company at the time.
His son
Nick, who provided
the photo indicates that Fred was the chap in the center.
This Rapide was
the former RAF
Dominie R5934, civilianized in 1949 as G-AKSH and shipped to Fiji in
January
1952. The Rapides
were withdrawn from service in the late 1950s after having been
replaced by
DHA-3 Drovers.
