HL-108 Douglas
DC-4-1009
(c/n 43094)
This DC-4 was sold to Korean National Airlines in October 1953, which
is when Bill Larkins
photographed it at Oakland where it had just been repainted from its
California Eastern livery.
Delivered new to ARAMCO as N1625 in March 1947, it spent five years as
an executive
courier to Saudi Arabia before being sold to California Eastern
Airlines in December of 1952.
Looks
like that carrier may have acquired it to merely flip it for profit.
These post war-built
DC-4s were much sought after in the late 1940s. It
was merged into Korean Air Lines in
1962 when that nationalized carrier was formed.
