Express Curtiss C-46
N1628M
(c/n 33060)
Skycoach Express was
formed in 1953 by Irving E. Herman. It operated irregular
scheduled
passenger flights
from California to Reno and Las Vegas with a couple of C-46s.
N5616V
was the other
one. Bill Larkins' above photo was taken at its Oakland base in
1954, just prior
to the non-sked
folding. N1628M was sold to Regina Airlines.
In 1960 it went to Taxader
Columbia as
HK-792. It crashed after catching fire whilst landing
at Pointe-a-Pitre on 28 Oct
1970 when working for Aerocosta Columbia.
