Cessna 750 Citation X N750XX
(c/n 750-0094)
For years the Citation had a reputation of
being a "slow jet". This, the pundits said, when comparing
it the the
Learjet. Even though that comparison was no longer true when the
later Citation IIIs et sec
came out,
still the reputation held. It came as a surprise to the industry
therefore when Cessna
announced
the Citation X at the NBAA convention in New Orleans in
1990 This, they claimed,
would be the
fastest executive jet in the world. After a long and
difficult certification process, the
first
Citation X was delivered (in 1996) to long tine Cessna customer,
and golfer, Arnold Palmer.
True to its word,
and with a top speed of Mach 0.92, these aircraft continue to set point
to point
world speed
records. The above shot is another of Manas Barooah's fine work
and shows a 1999
model on
short finals into San Jose's Norman Y. Mineta International Airport in
January of 2004.
Billy Sierra provides the shot below of the
Target Corporation's Citation X seen at Ramey Air Base
at Borinquen, Puerto Rico in March 2011.
