Luscombe T8F N2231B
(c/n 6658)
This chubby little thing was the Model T8F Observer, introduced in
1947. It was developed primarily
as a pipeline patrol aircraft and
differed from earlier Silvaires in that it sat two in tandem. The
roof of
the cabin was formed by a molded
Plexiglas bubble. In 1949 a crop duster version was produced
with built-in spray gear,
although was not widely used. The T8F was powered by a 90 hp
Continental
C90-12F engine. This
shot was taken at Camarillo Airport, some 45 miles west of Los Angeles
in 1963.
