Cessna 310D  N6948T                           (c/n  39248)

Commencing with the 310D in 1960, this popular twin sprouted swept tail surfaces.  It retained the
same bulbous wing tip tanks (making the taking of decent photographs difficult) containing all of the
fuel load.   It also employed the same fuel injection system as the straight tailed 310C.  As befits the
era, this example, taken at Long Beach in October of 1961 had a miniscule black registration painted
on a dark red rudder.  Brilliant!   Actually, by the time this machine was built, large fuselage mounted
numbers had been mandated by the FAA and so I am surprised Cessna could get away with this
                                             apparent infringement.
