Texas Air Transport  Fokker Super Universal C8033                     (c/n 820)

Texas Air Transport was founded by Temple Bowen (later to form Bowen Air Lines) in 1927
to provide air mail service (CAM21) from Dallas to Bownsville and Galveston using a fleet of
seven Pitcairn Mailwings.  When passenger services were added in 1928 several other types
were added to the fleet.  One of these is the Fokker Super Universal seen above.  C8033 was
originally built for St. Tammany-Gulf Coast Airways.  Later Texas AT and this airline merged to
form Southern Air Transport.  (The Super Universal went on to become part of American Air-
                                         ways Fleet).
