Pioneer Air Lines

In 1951, and
synonimous with its acquisition of the Martin 2-0-2s, Pioneer changed
its livery,
as seen in the above photo from the Brian Baker collection. Like
all the fleet, N79021 was
an ex C-47 and
was named "James Bowie".
This particular aircraft had been converted to
C-117-C-DL
status as a VIP transport. Sold off by Continental after the
merge, it became
N1800U and in
1980 beczme part of the Florence-Darlington Tech
Education Center at
Florence
SC.
