Inter-Island
Airways Sikorsky S-43 N15061
(c/n 4301)
Early in 1936 the
airline augmented its fleet of Sikorsky S-38s with two brand new sleek
S-43
"miniature Clippers". In fact,
Inter-Island were the launch customer for this twin engined amphibian
Pan Am
eventually ordered a whole fleet of them, but Inter-Island only ever
had the two, which
performed
sterling service up to and in the early days of, WW II.
Original prints establish
that the first aircraft is seen above whilst below NC15062 (c/n 4302)
is being refueld.
