The Stinson U was a development of the earlier Stinson T (or Model SM-6000-B as it should
more correctly be known).    This aircraft had a short plane between the outboard engines and
the fuselage thus making it, more or less, a sesquiplane.    Introduced in 1932, the big Stinson
was the ultimate in luxury air travel at the time.  American had a dozen or so of them and they
were used mainly on the mid-western routes out of Chicago.            Both shots gleaned from
                                           American Airlines circa 1947.
