Allegheny Airlines   British Aircraft Corp BAC-111  N1547    (c/n     041)

                                       

                                           When Allegheny merged with Mohawk Airlines in 1972 it absorbed the latter's fleet of BAC-111s.
                                           The aircraft fitted well into the airlines short haul routes and, as a result, it purchased eight more of
                                           them from Braniff.  When Bob Garrard took this image of an ex Braniff example on short finals into
                                           Ronald Reagan National Airport at Washiungton, D.C. in November of 1980, theoretically the air-
                                           line had changed its name to USAir, but as we can see, N1547 had yet to be repainted.   It was
                                           leased to Air Illinois in 1982.
