VH-UUD de
Havilland D.H. 87A Hornet Moth
(c/n 8036)
Here's -UUD
when with the Royal Queensland Aero Club in the late 40s, early
50s. Photo
from David
Henderson. The shot below is by John Hopton at Bankstown in
1955. At the
time the aircraft was owned by Kingsford Smith Aviation Service, and
parked outside their
hangar surrounded by RAAF disposals Oxfords (which never made it onto
the Australian civil
register). The three images below (none of which are
spectacular) illustrate the aircraft at an
earlier time, when it was owned by the Royal Queensland Aero
Club. My own (top most) is
a
poor shot suffering from fading, but shows the machine in post-war RQAC
livery, circa 1947
at Archerfield.
Immediately following that is a photo (circa 1939) kindly sent
to me by Barbara
Butler
of Queensland showing it as it was probably first imported in standard
de Havilland livery..
The
image at the foot of the page showing -UUD in the same markings, is
from the John Oxley
Library, State Library of Queensland collection. VH-UUD was
re-registered
VH-PMG in 1956
although fairly quickly became
VH-BMG (in 1957) until it was again re-registered VH-RKM in
1960..
