VH-UTY de
Havilland D.H.83 Fox Moth (c/n 4041)
The four images on this page are
all via the Geoff Goodall collection. Above, is a post-war shot
by
John Hopton at Bankstown. No 2 photo
shows -UTY at Parafield in 1940 just after its purchase by
Guinea
Airways. The third shot below sees it on an outback WA strip in
the late 1930s while owned
by original owner George Lewis' Goldfields
Airways of Kalgoorlie WA. It had been imported from
England (ex G-ACCA) in June 1935.
Finally, at the foot of the page the Fox Moth is seen in wartime
camouflage while it was with Guinea Airways and
maintaining restricted passenger services to SA towns.
It was evidently never impressed into the RAAF but
allowed to remain with Guinea for the duration.
In 1952, after refurbishment by Kingsford
Smith Aviation in Bankstown it was
sold to Papuan Air
Transport of Port Moresby The Fox
Moth was written off in a crash at Lake Myola, New Guinea
on
17 November 1953. .
