VH-UEM de Havilland
D.H. 50A
(c/n 128)
Here's an
oldie. This aircraft was imported in 1924 for WA
Airways. The
rare shot above from
the Geoff Goodall collection
shows
it just after its arrival from the UK. Founder of West Australian
Airways Norman Brearley is standing on the left. In the lower
shot it has
been re-registered VH-UEM
and is seen outside
West Australian Airways hanger in 1930. Note D.H. 66 Hercules G-AUJQ in the
background. VH-UEM
lasted until 1940 when it hit high tension power lines at Coode Island,
Victoria
on 29 January of that
year, crashed and was totally
destroyed by fire.
