VH-UVF de Havilland D.H.85 Leopard Moth
(c/n 7126)
It's tough to tell a Leopard Moth from the earlier Puss
Moth. The wing planform is different,
but a quick guide is
the revised positioning of the undercarriage bracing
struts. This aircraft was
imported in November
1936 for Colin H. Young of Cunnamulla, Qld. The above shot, from
the
John Oxley
Library, State Library of Queensland collection shows it at Cunnamulla
in 1939. It
survived the war, but was
withdrawn from use at the end of 1947. It came back on the
register
in 1950 and was withdrawn
again in 1959. No further data on its status.
