VH-UVA Percival
D.3 Gull Six
(c/n D.60)
This
image is from the A J Jackson Collection at Brooklands
Museum. VH-UVA was owned by
two of Australia's
pioneers of aviation during its decade on the register. It was
imported new in
1936 for P.G. Taylor,
who later went on to survey the Pacific flying boat routes. He sold it
to
G.E. Ryder of Cessnock, NSW in 1937, and by 1939 it was owned by Eddie
Connellan, of
outback airline fame.
VH-UVA outlived the war (although it was not impressed) and was written
off in a crash at
Camooweal, Queensland on 1 May 1946. The pre-war shot below is
from the
E.A. Crome collection, via
the National Library of Australia.
