VH-URS de Havilland
D.H.60GIII Moth
(c/n 5086)
The above photograph
is from the Frank Walters collection and was taken at Mascot. in the
mid to late 1930s. I believe that the
logo on the fuselage after the rego was possibly that of
the Newcastle Aero Club who acquired this aircraft from a private owner
in February 1936
.
The image of it below, in the rather uncompromising position, .is from
the State Library of New
South Wales collection. Such nose over accidents were common in
those days and it probably
only broke the prop. VH-URS was impressed into the RAAF in
1940, becoming A7-91. It
did not survive
the war and was reduced to produce.
