VH-UQH  de Havilland D.H.60M Moth         (c/n 1685)

The photo above is from the Geoff Goodall collection and shows a very average looking Metal Moth
at Longreach, Queensland circa 1932 when the aircraft was owned by R.S. White of Esk, Qld.     It
was the former G-ABHY which had broken the England-Australia record the previous year when it
was flown out solo by C.W.A. Scott in 9 days, 4 hours and 11 minutes, arriving at Darwin on 10 April
1931.   The image below, from the archives of the Civil Aviation Historical Society in Melbourne, shows
the aircraft, probably in Australia, between the time of its arrival and 9 September 1931 when it received
its Australia CofA and rego.    It had six or seven owners over the next two decades and wound up in
Carnarvon, WA in 1952, although was never impressed into RAAF service during the war.  VH-UQH
was severely damaged by a cyclone at Winning Pool Station, WA on 22 March 1953 and was officially
stricken from the register later that year.

Breaking News:  Ian Mcdonell reports that this Moth is currently under rebuild at CAC Caboolture.
See Ian's photo at foot of the page.  No estimated time for completion has yet been set.
