VH-UOZ  de Havilland D.H.60M Moth                  (c/n  1401)

                               

                                      This Moth, first registered in September 1930,  had a couple of accidents while still owned by
                                      de Havillands before it was sold, in October 1933 to the Kingsford Smith Flying School at
                                      Mascot..  The nice photo above is from the Frank Walters collection.     The photo below is
                                      by R.E. Hourigan, circa 1935.   In the photo at the foot of the page

                                      collection, (courtesy of the National Library of Australia) it is wearing a 'reversed' livery,
                                      although the date is unknown.   The couple are a young Nancy Bird and Jack Kingsford
                                      Smith.  Whilst still with the Flying School it .crashed into the sea off Cronulla, NSW on
                                      15 January 1938, although was obviously salvaged since it was impressed into RAAF service
                                      in 1940 as A7-118.  It later became Instructional Airframe # 17.
