VH-ULC de
Havilland D.H.60G Gipsy Moth
(c/n 898)
This Moth had a long history of ownership
from the date of its first registration in February 1929
until stricken off the register in 1955. The shot above is from
the Charles Ohlson collection, (via
the
Civil Aviation Historical Society archives), whilst that immediately
below is via
Bill White who
gleaned the photograph
from the son of S. Parisotto of West Kempsey, NSW, that gentleman
having owned the Moth
from August 1937 until he sold it to the Northern NSW Aero Club in
Feb
1938. The image at the foot of the page, from the Roger
McDonald collection shows the Moth
over Melbourne in the
1830s while being flown by Frank Roberts. Incidentally the upper
photo
appears
to be a CofA official
image,
although is believed to have been taken at Essendon
in
1934.
The Northern
NSW Aero Club pranged it near Kempsey,
NSW in March of 1938
although it was
repaired
by Airwork Co at Archerfield who then sold it
to Queensland Air
University. They were
the
owners in the early days of WW II
(although, oddly, it was not
impressed). It
was sold to
A.
Tulloch of
Cobar, (outback NSW) in 1951. VH-ULC was damaged beyond repair
in
a gale at
Cobar in February 1955, although its remains were reputed to be at
Albury, NSW it the end of the
last
millennium.
