VH-UKC D.H.60M
Moth
(c/n 711)
The above historic shot is from the John
Hopton collection and pictures VH-UKC at Balranald,
NSW
in 1929 during a sales tour by the newly formed de Havilland Aircraft
Pty Ltd in Australia.
Major Hereward De
Havilland is in the rear cockpit (prop swinger unknown). -UKC was
regis-
tered to DHA in May 1929, and damaged severely in October of that year
when a violent wind
blew it against Moth VH-UKJ at Maylands Aerodrome, Perth.
Repaired, it was sold to a Mr.
R. B. Pearson of
Brewarrina, NSW in April 1930. However, it was short-lived
inasmuch as it
was
written off either by Pearson or other persons unknown in a crash at
Nyngan, NSW a fort-
night
later and stricken from the register on 8 August 1930.
