VH-UHQ de Havilland
D.H.60G Gipsy Moth
(c/n 878)
The CofA photograph above is via
the John Hopton collection, and was taken at Mascot circa
1932, while the
poor image below shows the Moth in company with the Puss Moth VH-UQK.
In the latter
the Gipsy Moth was accompanying Broadbent and Maguire at
the start of an epic
`
Australia-England flight made in October of 1935. This Moth
was one of several which made up
the nucleus of
the Australian Aero Club (NSW Section) in the early 1930s. It
became part of the
Royal
Aero Club of NSW fleet in July 1937. It was destroyed in a
crash landing at Wagga, NSW
in
December 1939, but rebuilt by the RACNSW as VH-AAQ .
