G-AUJJ    Sopwith Dove                              (c/n   W/O 3004/4)

                                 

                                       
This Dove had Certificate of Registration No 26 and was registered on 28 June 1921.
                                        The above image, from the CAHS archives was taken outside the Larkin Aircraft Supply
                                        Co hangar at Glenhuntly.     The Larkin brothers started up after WW I as an agency for
                                        Sopwith aircraft. The Dove operated until 1925 when its CofR lapsed, and was never
                                        renewed. . Presumably it was painted as G-AU prior to this happening although I have
                                        not been able to glean a clear image of it as such. . 
                                        In the print below, from the Kevin OReilly collection it is unclear whether the machine is
                                        depicted as G-EA or G-AU.    -UJJ was another 'out-of-sequence' registration, being
                                        issued after the allocation of "double last two" was allowed, and using its ex UK rego
                                        with minimum change.  The Sopwith Dove was a 2 seat civilian variant of the Sopwith
                                        Pup,  Ten were built.
