G-AUXJ de
Havilland D.H.60X
Moth
(c/n 466)
These two
photos were taken by Charlie Pratt in New Guinea circa 1928.
Pratt, from Geelong,
Victoria had taken the Moth to New Guinea, where he originally worked
for, and then sold it for
a profit to,
Airgold Ltd of Sydney.
It then worked
in the transportation role in the PNG Gold Fields.
G-AUHJ was sold to Guinea Airways Ltd in August 1930 although crashed
at Bulolo, New
Guinea on 7 September 1931 presumably before it could be registered
VH- . Fortunately the
two gentlemen alongside the fuselage above left enough space to
identify the Moth!
