G-AUFJ de Havilland D.H.60
Moth
(c/n ?)
This Moth was a Qantas constructed machine,
assembled in 1926. It was sold to A.J. Murphy
a
dentist, of Miles, Queensland in 1929. He, along with a
passenger were killed in a crash on
the property of Herbert Rayner, some 18 miles from Miles on 19 August
1930. Despite the
official
register indicating that it had received its VH- markings by that
time, clearly these had
not been
painted on, as can be seen in the shot above of the wreckage from the
John Oxley
Library,
State Library of Queensland collection.
